Two great sixth forms, one great Trust

August 14, 2025admin
Leaders at Ivy Education Trust are today full of praise for the commitment and dedication of school leaders, staff, and students across their two sixth forms at Newton Abbot College and Teignmouth Community School.  CEO, Katy Quinn, commented, “It is so easy to forget as time goes on that this cohort were the group sent home due to the pandemic for most of year 8, receiving little face-to-face teaching for a year and a half, and still isolated in ‘bubbles’ throughout year 10.  The courage and commitment shown by them and the staff, who have taught and guided them with such compassion, has been truly remarkable.  We are so very proud of each and every one of them”.
Teignmouth Community School are celebrating another great set of A level and level 3 BTEC results. Staff and students were delighted and Headteacher, Rachel Wickham, was full of praise and admiration saying, “we are just so pleased to be able to celebrate such fantastic achievements with the students who have collected their results today.  They truly have reaped the rewards they deserve.  Nothing could make me happier than the smiles on the faces and the audible shrieks of delight as those envelopes were opened.  It makes all the hard work worthwhile, knowing the part we have played as a school in the lives and futures of these young people.  I wish them all the very best!”.  Laura Milsom, Head of Sixth Form, also expressed her delight with the achievements of this year’s cohort, “the results are seriously impressive across a range of courses and types of qualification.  We pride ourselves on the breadth of our offer and the quality of our provision.  The students of TCS6 this year have achieved more ‘top grades’ than we have seen for many years.  Which is no surprise and no more than they deserve.  I am so pleased for them and so proud of them.”  Laura went on to highlight her reflections about ‘top grades’ by sharing the particularly impressive results achieved by a handful of named students:
Ana Cunliffe Chem A*, Phys A*, Maths A*, Further Maths A*, EPQ A*; Millie Hedden Maths A*, Eng A, Hist A, EPQ A*; Sadie Davies Eng A, Hist A, Drama Distinction, EPQ A*; Aliza Bryant Rowe Criminology A, Hist A, Health and Social Care (Double) Double Distinction*
This year 50% of the overall Year 13 cohort applied to University and we were delighted that 100% of our students achieved a place. 90% achieved their first choice destination.
Paul Cornish, Executive Director of Education at Ivy Education Trust, said, “there is such a great sense of connection and collaboration across our family of schools.  Days like today are more than just stats, numbers, grades…they are the celebration and ‘graduation’ of our eldest students from our learning community.  We don’t like to say goodbye – so we say go well and see you soon.  We hope our most recent alumni stay in touch and keep us updated with all future endeavours and successes.”
