Last week, a group of Sixth Formers travelled to attend a conference in the gorgeous grounds of Buckfast Abbey. The conference was aimed at ‘aspiring teachers’ or those thinking about a career in the education sector.
Our students listened to talks from young, energetic, recently qualified primary and secondary teachers, and were given a real insight into the ins and outs of teaching. The clear message was that teaching is a lifestyle as opposed to ‘just a job’.
Students also explored different training routes into the profession. There really are many options, and students were encouraged to ask questions and find out as much as they could.
It really was a very enjoyable afternoon, and the students were a real credit.
