Kenton Primary have become a Rights Respecting School

October 9, 2022Kenton Primary School

Kenton Primary started out on the journey to becoming a rights respecting school; this means that:

Pupils and adults learn about children’s rights, putting them into practice every day.

In Rights Respecting Schools children’s rights are promoted and realised, adults and children work towards this goal together.

There are four key areas of impact for children at a Rights Respecting school; wellbeing, participation, relationships and self esteem.

The difference that a Rights Respecting School makes goes beyond the school gates, making a positive impact on the whole community.

  • Children are healthier and happier
  • Children feel safe
  • Children have better relationships
  • Children become active and involved in school life and the wider world

We are pleased to say we have just achieved the Bronze award. We have achieved this by setting up a ‘steering group’ of Y3/4/5/6 pupils who help to lead the school so that everyone knows about their rights.

We are delighted with our award, and will be looking to achieve Silver in the future.
