Ivy pride, Ivy success
Leaders at Ivy Education Trust have praised the commitment and dedication of school leaders and staff in their two sixth forms at Newton Abbot College and Teignmouth Community School. CEO, Katy Quinn, commented, “we are of course very pleased for, and very proud of, our sixth form students across the two sixth forms in our Trust. They have worked so hard and have received the results that they thoroughly deserve. But as a Trust we also want to take this opportunity to acknowledge and praise the relentless ambition for young people shown by our school leaders and staff – we are so very grateful to everyone who has supported these students throughout their school careers.”
At Newton Abbot College there were scenes of jubilation as students received their results and confirmation that they had what they needed to progress to their future plans of university, apprenticeships, and employment. “The year 13 and 14 students that have collected their results today have been such a delight to work with”, said Natasha Martin (Head of Sixth Form), “they have been so cheery and positive and alongside their hard work and commitment to their studies they have contributed so much to the wider life of our college, we will miss them and we are very, very proud of them. We wish them all the very best for what we know will be highly successful futures.”

Staff and students were delighted with the results and Headteacher, Rachel Wickham, was full of praise and admiration saying, “staff and students have worked so hard in order to reap the rewards that we have seen today – and it was so lovely to the see the smiles, hear the screams of delight and even one or two tears of relief and happiness. Such great moments to be able to share with these students before they go off into the world and achieve great things.” Laura Milsom, Director of Sixth Form added, ‘ We are delighted to see this year a rise in the number of students applying to University to study a wide range of courses’. Examples include, Geography at University of Exeter, Marine Biology at the University of Southampton, and Policing and Investigation at Liverpool John Moores University.
