Barcelona Trip 2025

November 4, 2025Dawlish College

¡Hola! ¡Buenos días!

From Thursday 27th to Sunday 30th March 2025, a group of students and teachers from Dawlish College embarked on an unforgettable trip to the city of Barcelona, Spain. This was the first such trip since the pandemic, meaning that for the students this was their first time travelling to another country with the school – and for some, their inaugural trip abroad altogether.

Over the four day excursion, the group stayed in BCN Sports Hostels right in the centre of the city during the evenings and nights – perfect for students with an amazing breakfast!

Barcelona, approximately 1110.9 miles from Dawlish, is a must-see destination in the north of Spain, filled with cultural enrichment and man made beauty – although there are some natural wonders, such as the exquisite beach.

Glimpses of a striking sunset could be caught out of the window of the plane as it took off, a sure sign that the dreary English weather was to soon be left behind and that everybody was ready to step out and embrace the sunlight of Spain. And the weather did not disappoint – it was like summer (too bad for those left at home).

Throughout the trip, many classic sights of Barcelona were admired: such as La Sagrada Familia, La Boquería Market and the stunning architecture of the city centre.

There was also the food – everyone present on the trip tried something new regarding the taste buds. On the first evening, the group enjoyed a delicious tapas meal, consisting of paella, calamari and Spanish omelette to name a few. And you cannot forget churros con chocolate, which were an essential part of the experience for those with a sweet tooth.

Many other little journeys were undertaken over the course of the trip – overall, the group walked around 17000 steps a day. There was the Camp Nou experience, the Picasso museum, a quest trail, the Montjuic cable cars, a boat trip and, of course, a shopping trip. You cannot forget the shopping! Everyone brought home a small token to remember the time, even those who didn’t maximise the extent of their euros, courtesy to Ms Marc, who gifted all the students little emblems at the end of the trip. Muy apreciada!

In the end, everyone had a brilliant time, one that is sure to be remembered for years to come. The experiences trips like these provide students is worth more than any words can say. A fruitful Spanish adventure, hopefully the first of many more to come.

¡Adiós y muchas gracias!
